Konzertmeister Alternatives in 2026: Band and Orchestra Apps

Konzertmeister, Spond, BAND, WhatsApp or WePlayIn.Band? A fair comparison of features, languages and prices for bands, orchestras and choirs, and when each fits.

Konzertmeister is one of the best-known apps for planning rehearsals and concerts, especially in German-speaking music associations. It isn’t the only option, though, and it isn’t always the right one. This comparison looks at five common choices for a band, orchestra or choir, using what each product publishes about itself as of October 2026.

Disclosure: we make WePlayIn.Band. We’ve kept competitor facts to what they state on their own websites and app-store listings, and we say where another tool is the better fit.

The short answer

  • You run a German-speaking Verein and want a free start: Konzertmeister’s Basic plan is hard to beat for up to 30 members.
  • You want a free app for a mixed club (sport and music): Spond or BAND.
  • You’re a band, orchestra or choir that needs attendance by position, parts per player and the money side, in Italian, Spanish or Catalan: WePlayIn.Band.
  • Fewer than ten people, one concert a year: a group chat and a spreadsheet are fine.

Konzertmeister

Strengths. Purpose-built for music associations. Members reply with one click, organisers set reply deadlines and send reminders, and appointments sync to personal calendars. Pro adds groups and casts, polls, task management, piece and setlist management, recurring appointments, templates and attendance statistics. There’s a free Basic plan for up to 30 members with 100 MB of storage, and Pro can be tried free for a month.

Consider. Many of the features ensembles grow into are on Pro. The website lists German, English, Dutch and French, so ensembles working in Italian, Spanish or Catalan should check the app in their language first.

Spond

Strengths. Free, with no ads, according to its music page. Scheduling for rehearsals, sectionals and concerts, availability tracking, messages to the whole group or one section, file sharing and fee collection from members. A good fit when the same organisation also runs sports teams.

Consider. It’s a general group app. Its music page doesn’t mention sheet music by part, programmes or a repertoire library.

BAND

Strengths. Free, widely used for all kinds of groups, with a calendar, attendance checks, polls, chat and group calls.

Consider. The free version shows ads, with an ad-free purchase. Its listing has no music-specific features such as sections, repertoire or parts. Interface languages include Spanish but not Italian or Catalan.

WhatsApp plus a spreadsheet

Strengths. Everyone already has it.

Consider. Replies get buried, nobody sees the total by section, reminders are manual and parts get lost in the chat. We wrote about why ensembles move beyond WhatsApp groups.

WePlayIn.Band

Strengths.

  • Attendance by section and position, with automatic line-ups from the number of players each part needs per event type.
  • Repeating rehearsals for the whole season, released to members on a schedule.
  • Scores, recordings and links shared with the whole ensemble, one section or one position.
  • Musician fees by rate tier, expense claims with receipts, and a season cashbook.
  • Several formations (main band, youth band, choir) sharing one pool of members.
  • The Wolfgang AI assistant for voice commands, scanning printed programmes and analysing full scores.
  • iPhone, Android and web in six languages, servers in the EU.

Consider. There’s no free plan: Community costs €50 a year for up to 20 members, and Professional costs €150 a year with every feature included. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial after a short setup call.

How to choose in one evening

  1. List the three jobs that take most of your time today (chasing replies? sending parts? paying soloists?).
  2. Check which app does those three without add-ons, in your members’ language.
  3. Price it for your real size over a year.
  4. Run one month of rehearsals in the app with your committee before inviting everyone.

If attendance by part, parts per player and the money side are on your list, book a 30-minute demo and we’ll show you WePlayIn.Band with your own sections.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good alternative to Konzertmeister?

It depends on what you need. Spond and BAND are free general group apps with event replies and messaging. WePlayIn.Band is built for bands, orchestras and choirs, with attendance by position, sheet music shared per part, musician fees and an Italian, Spanish and Catalan interface. A spreadsheet plus WhatsApp works only for very small groups.

Is Konzertmeister free?

Konzertmeister has a free Basic plan for up to 30 members with 100 MB of storage. Its Pro plans cost €33, €66 or €99 a year depending on the number of members, according to its pricing page in October 2026, and add features such as polls, setlists, statistics and recurring appointments.

Which band app works in Italian, Spanish and Catalan?

Konzertmeister's website lists German, English, Dutch and French. BAND lists Spanish but not Italian or Catalan. WePlayIn.Band is available in English, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, German and French, and sends notifications and invitations in each member's language.
